The Career Wheel is a tool to help you identify and prioritise different areas of your career. The wheel is unique to you and the content of it is likely to change over time, especially as you start to achieve your goals through your coaching sessions.
Take the time to complete the wheel and really think about what is important to you and how satisfied you are with it. The answers to these questions will help you identify your goals and actions for your coaching sessions.
Below are the instructions for completing the Career Wheel, remember each person will be different and to get the most out of it, be honest.
Step 1
Draw a circle in the centre of the page. Divide the circle into 8 sections. In each section write the name of a part of your career that is important to you; time management, managing people, project management, recognition etc. etc. The list should be personal to you.
Step 2
For each section, rank from 1 to 10 how satisfied you currently are with that area. Mark this on the wheel by drawing a line through the section, half way to show 5 and on the outer circle to show 10 etc.
Step 3
Now draw another circle around the last circle. Continue out the 8 sections. Now write in each section where your satisfaction level was below 10, what 10 would, look, feel or sound like.
Step 4
Draw another circle around the last circle you drew and again continue out the 8 sections. Now write in each section what actions you need to take to get to 10.
