
Executive Career Coaching is a fantastic tool when used correctly. Using a Corporate Strengths Finder gives people understanding of their individual strengths. Then how they can use them to their full advantage. This is key to people’s success.
Here are a few of the tools I have used in the past when talking to clients about what their strengths are:
Signature strengths is a free test where you answer some questions and they give you your signature strengths. Take the online test available on the VIA website. The test comprises 120 questions and takes 30 minutes or so. There are no right/wrong answers. The key is to be genuine, so that you can derive the most from the experience. After taking the test, you will get the ranking of your 24 strengths. Print it out if you can and keep track of your top 4 strengths. My top 4 were Humour, Zest, Honesty and Kindness. A good top four when working with executives on their career coaching!
I also use Strength Finder book by Don Clifton. This book offers an online test where you find your key strengths and how to work well with others. I have used this a lot with teams and in management meetings. It really gives groups a quick way to talk to each others about what works really well and how to maximise everyone’s additions to the group. Team dynamics and team development improve when the group communicates well with each other.
From this one are Communication, Activator, Winning Over Others, Learner and Positivity. I find that these strengths give me quick and effective coaching with people and helps me when I work with teams need support.
